What's the typical process for an attorney candidate seeking to work with Oakstreet Attorney Search?
We typically schedule an introductory call with attorneys who may be interested in exploring the market, to learn more about their experience and career goals, and to determine if we're a good fit to assist in their search. If so, we will work to actively source any opportunities, including "unposted" opportunities, in line with their goals. We also work with candidates on resume or business plan creation, interview preparation, and offer negotiation.
Are all conversations confidential?
Absolutely. As former practicing attorneys, we recognize the importance of confidentiality in the lateral recruitment process. All resumes or other materials are kept strictly confidential until the candidate provides express consent to share their information with an interested law firm.
Do attorney candidates pay any fees for our services?
No. We are paid by our law firm clients for providing recruiting services. Even if we're not in a position to place you with a firm, we are always happy to provide free guidance to attorneys in our markets, as we believe in the importance of the relationships that we can build beyond helping attorneys lateral to a new firm.
Will you share my resume without my approval?
Never. We will only share identifying information about a candidate to a firm with that candidate's express approval and consent.
How much legal practice experience is typically required for the attorney candidates we work with?
At least 1 year of practice experience is typically required to successfully make a lateral move, with occasional exceptions. We are happy to consult with more junior attorneys that are considering the direction of their career.
